dale hollow lake 2015

We had another fantastic week on Dale Hollow.  Our boat was named "Freedom," and that's exactly what it was to us.  Freedom from work, responsibilities, emails, cell service, appointments, and distractions.

We spent a lot of time exploring nearby coves with the kayaks.  After we found a geode, the girls were on a constant hunt for them, and they'd return to the boat with their kayaks loaded with geodes and fossils.
The one week a year that I buy the Costco box of fruit roll ups, fruit by the foot, and gushers and let them pick whatever Little Debbie products they want from the store, and then offer zero regulation over them.

Picking through empty turtle eggs and searching for geodes.
The only people we saw on our trip was the occasional wave runner zipping through our section of the lake, but we did see plenty of wildlife.  Along with this huge spider with hundreds of babies on it's back we came across on a walk, we saw deer, turkey, snakes, turtles, bald eagles, and even had 2 working coon dogs run down from the ridge to check out our boat before running back into the woods.
The hot tub on the top deck was a nice way to spend cool mornings and late evenings under the stars.

The after-dark left, right, center games got serious when we began playing for a dollar.
Grace and Madeline would beg to kayak together before breakfast, then paddle out to the middle of our cove and just sit and talk.  I loved watching their faces through my telephoto lens.

These 2 were constantly playing a game.  Cornhole on the top deck was their favorite, but uno attack was their go-to when they were in their rooms.

The fishing wasn't great were we were, but the plentiful bluegill were just fine for the girls.  Grace had no problem throwing a plastic lure, or baiting her own hook with live worm or crickets.
